The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Kapila Jayampathy declared open the newly constructed Base Headquarters Building at SLAF Base Hingurakgoda on 2 March 2019. This Base Headquarters has been constructed under the concept of the Commander of the Air Force.

The Chief of Staff, Air Vice Marshal DLS Dias, Members of the Air Force Board of Management, Base Commander SLAF Base Hingurakgoda, Officers and Other Ranks of SLAF Base Hingurakgoda were presented for the opening ceremony.
