SLAF Contingent Returns From South Sudan

The third Contingent of the Air Force Aviation Unit under the United Nations helicopter deployment in the South Sudan (UNMISS) arrived in Sri Lanka on 3rd July 2019. The First team consisting 86 personnel led by Wing Commander UDLP Gunasinghe arrived at Bandaranayake International Airport.

A fifteen member crew remained in South Sudan in order to carryout formal handing over of duties of the Aviation Unit and will be returning to the island on a later date.

A team of Senior Officers from SLAF Base Katunayake led by Air Commodore Ayub Jabir and family members of the arriving personnel were present at the Arrival Lounge to greet the arriving SLAF Troops.

Sri Lanka Air Force stands as the sole gallant aerial force in the nation, skillfully projecting airpower over its airspace and supporting the operations of surface entities.
