Commander's Inspection of Sri Lanka Air Force Station Katukurunda

The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sumangala Dias conducted the Commander's Inspection of Sri Lanka Air Force Station Katukurunda today (9th August 2019).

Commanding Officer of the Station, Group Captain Mohan Balasooriya received the Commander on his arrival where a Street Line was accorded.

During the course of the inspection the Commander visited all areas of the Station. A Certificate of Commendation were awarded to Sergeant Duminda WH for the valuable service rendered for the benefit of the Station.

On conclusion of the inspection, Commander addressed all Officers, Other Ranks and Civilian Staff. During his address, the Commander spoke of how the Katukurunda Station which was previously known as the Royal Naval Airport came to be an SLAF Establishment in 1984 and how in the present day context the Station is popular among race car drivers in Sri Lanka. The Commander also spoke of the development taken place in the Station during the past year and commended the Commanding Officer and his staff on a job well done. In conclusion, the Commander reminded all that he believed it was the duty and responsibility of all service personnel to maintain a high level of discipline and also congratulated the Station on a successful completion of the Commander’s Inspection.

Sri Lanka Air Force stands as the sole gallant aerial force in the nation, skillfully projecting airpower over its airspace and supporting the operations of surface entities.
