SLAF take part in Conex 2020

SLAF took part in the Conex 2020 exercise conducted from 27th to 30th January 2020 approximately 15 Nautical Miles off Negombo. On 28 January, a Bell 212 helicopter form the No 4 Squadron conducted an aerial photography exercise while a Mi17 helicopter took part for a vertical replenishment exercise with SLNS Sidurala.

On the next day (29 January), a Bell 412 helicopter conducted an aerial recce to search for simulated air crash site off Negombo (approximately 15 Nautical Miles) where crew alerted the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) through Central Air Operations Room to launch rescue vessels to crash site. Later a Mi-17 helicopter conducted a CASEVAC mission to SLNS Sidurala to simulate a casualty evacuation.

On 29 Jan a Bell 212 carried out an aerial photography mission and a Bell 412 conducted a Ship Deck landing on SLNS Sindulala marking the end of SLAF contribution in the Conex 2020.

Sri Lanka Air Force, is the only aerial arm among the Sri Lanka Armed Forces, responsible for defending the nation's airspace and supporting its sister services for all kind of operations.
