SLAF Assists in Dousing Fire at Seeduwa Close to Katunayake Expressway

Responding to a request by the Disaster Management Centre, the SLAF deployed a Bell 212 Helicopter with a 950 ltr Bambi Bucket from SLAF Ratmalana to assist in the fighting of a sudden fire that had started at the Seeduwa Urban Council Garbage Dump close to the Katunayake Expressway.

The Bell 212 Helicopter of the No 4 Squadron was utilized immediately to carry-out the Bambi Bucket Operation. The helicopter was captained by Wing Commander Susantha Alahakoon and co- piloted by Flight Lieutenant Nirmal Perera.

The Helicopter carried out 22 Bambi operations before returning back to Base.
