No 6 Helicopter Squadron at Anuradhapura Celebrates 27th Anniversary
The No 6 Helicopter Squadron at SLAF Base Anuradhapura celebrated its 27th Anniversary yesterday (15 March 2020) under the guidance of the Commanding Officer, Wing Commander WWNTP Fernando. The Anniversary celebrations of the Squadron more popularly known as the Tuskers in the Sky began with a Parade at the Base Parade Square reviewed by the Commanding Officer.
Concurrently, the Squadron organized several functions to mark this occasion including religious and community service activities. A ‘Dansal’ program was arranged at Ruwanweli Maha Saya Premises to invoke blessings on the past and present members of the Squadron. In addition, a ‘Shramadana’ Program was conducted in St. Joseph's Church. As well as a Blood Donation campaign was held at Base Hospital in collaboration with the Blood Bank of Government Hospital Anuradhapura.
In line with the formation day, after the parade all Officers and all personnel participated for a religious program at the Squadron. Further, a friendly Elle match was conducted with the participation of Officers and all personnel of the Squadron at the Base Sport Ground.
