SLAF Constructs a New Out-Patient Unit at the Gampaha District General Hospital

On a request received by the District General Hospital at Gampaha, a team of civil engineering personnel from the Civil Engineering Wing (CEW) at SLAF Base Katunayake were deployed to construct a New Out-Patient Unit for COVID-19 suspected patients at the Hospital.

On the instructions of the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sumangala Dias and under the guidance of the Directorate of Civil Engineering of the SLAF team of engineering personnel comprising of an Officer and 30 Airmen completed the construction of the new unit within a short period of 6 days.

The funding for the project was provided by well-wishers in the Gamapaha Area while the SLAF provided the required manpower and engineering expertise to complete the project within a very short time.

The New Out-Patient Unit was handed over to the hospital yesterday (4 April 2020). The Commanding Officer of the Civil Engineering Wing, Group Captain M B C D Muthuthanthri participated for the event together with the Project Engineer, Flight Lieutenant K T T D Colombathanthri.
