5TH AVIATION CONTINGENT DEPART FOR REPUBLIC OF SOUTH SUDAN (UNMISS)

Annual changing of personnel of the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) Aviation Unit under the United Nations Mission in the Republic of South Sudan (UNMISS) departed the country during early hours today (17 November 2020).

The 5th contingent of 52 personnel comprise of 14 Officers and 38 Airmen departed to Republic of South Sudan from Bandaranaike International Airport.  Group Captain Duleep Hewawitharana  will lead this Contingent as the Contingent Commander.


Sri Lanka Air Force, is the only aerial arm among the Sri Lanka Armed Forces, responsible for defending the nation's airspace and supporting its sister services for all kind of operations.
