The change of command at SLAF Station Katukurunda was held yesterday (15 December 2020).

The outgoing Commanding Officer of SLAF Station Katukurunda, Group Captain VGGB Piyasiri handed over command of the Station to Group Captain BAMP Balasuriya RSP, USP, MSc (Def & Strat Stu), MSc (Def Stu) in Mgt, BA (Def Stu), psc.

The ceremonial Handing over/Taking Over parade took place at the Station Parade Area and was commanded by Squadron Leader WMPC Wijekoon.

Group Captain VGGB Piyasiri took over command of SLAF Station Katukurunda on 14 March 2020 and will be proceeding to take up the position of Secretary to the Head of the Task Force, to prevent COVID 19 in Military Establishments.

The new Commanding Officer Group Captain BAMP Balasuriya was the Project Manager UAV R&D Project at SLAF Station Katukurunda before being appointed as the Commanding Officer.
