RE-DEPLOYMENT OF MI 17 HELICOPTER FROM SOUTH SUDAN TO THE CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC.

Upon the request made by the United Nations Headquarters, New York, the Sri Lanka Aviation Unit in South Sudan (UNMISS) with the concurrence of the Government of Sri Lanka carried out the re- deployment of a MI 17 Utility Helicopter and 34 SLAF personnel to the Sri Lankan Aviation Unit in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) to assist the ongoing UN air operations which are taking place with ongoing elections, in Central Africa.

This first helicopter departed Sudan on 29 December 2020 along with troops and cargo for Central African Republic. This will enhance the intermission cooperation between UNMISS and MINUSCA.

Sri Lanka Air Force stands as the sole gallant aerial force in the nation, skillfully projecting airpower over its airspace and supporting the operations of surface entities.
