GENERAL CONVOCATION OF KOTELAWALA DEFENCE UNIVERSITY -2020 CEREMONIALLY CONCLUDES AT BMICH

The 31 General Convocation-2020 of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University, the highest academic seat for defence studies, ceremonially concluded at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) on yesterday (16 February 2021).

The Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, the President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, His Excellency Gotabaya Rajapaksa graced the occasion as the Chief Guest along with Secretary to Ministry of Defence General Kamal Gunaratne (Retd), Commanders of the Army and Navy and the Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana,.

The Convocation was held under six separate sessions due to COVID-19 health guidelines. Further,1379 of Master’s and Bachelor’s degree recipients received their parchments. In addition 5 Doctors of Philosophy (PhD) recipients, 263 Post Graduate Diploma recipients and 1211 1st Class Degree recipients were awarded respectively.

During this year convocation, Flying Officer RGSD Gamage was awarded as the Best Air Force Officer and Second Lieutenant RMDP Rathnayake, Lieutenant VS Palihawadana were adjudged the Best Army Officer and Best Navy Officer respectively.

Sri Lanka Air Force stands as the sole gallant aerial force in the nation, skillfully projecting airpower over its airspace and supporting the operations of surface entities.
