The 8th phase of “Guwan Mithudam” project was conducted by SLAF Base Rathmalana yesterday (22 April 2021). During this community project the library building of Kothalawalapura Maha Vidyalaya, Ratmalana was renovated and handed over to the school children where library books were also donated. The Chairperson of SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs.Charmini Pathirana graced the event as the Chief Guest and handed over the renovated building and donated books as well.

The overall project was completed under the guidance of the Chairperson of SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit and under the supervision of the Base Commander of SLAF Base Ratmalana, Air Commodore Dhammika Dias.

Approximately 1000 students receive their education at this school and for the past few years students have been unable to use the library due to the dilapidated condition of the building. Hence, the building was renovated with facilities such as tables and chairs to be used by students.

Mrs. Sharmila Wijesuriya the spouse of the Director of Aeronautical Engineering, Base Commander of SLAF Base Ratmalana, Air Commodore Dhammika Dias and President Seva Vanitha Unit at SLAF Base Ratmalana, Mrs. Rashomani Dias, a cross section of Officers and Other Ranks of SLAF Base Ratmalana along with staff members of the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit, teachers and students of the school participated for the event.
