SLAF TROOPS COLOUR WASH MIHINTALE MAHA SEYA


On a request made through the Ministry of Defence and on the instructions of the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana, the colour washing of the Sacred Mihintale Maha Seya and adjacent buildings commenced on 29 April 2021.

Accordingly, with the assistance of the Directorate of Civil Engineering, troops from Bases and Stations of the Northern Air Command and Regimental Special Forces personnel carried out the task. SLAF personnel commenced the project after attending to religious ceremonies which were held to evoke blessing for this challenging task.

The project was completed on 21 June 2021 and was handed over today (24 June 2021) to the Chief Incumbent of the Mihintale Raja Maha, Venerable Dr. Walawahengunuwewe Dhammarathana Thera by the Commander of the Air Force. The Acting Northern Air Commander and the Base Commander of SLAF Base Anuradhapura, Air Commodore Deshapriya Silva and personnel who were actively involved in the project were also present today.
