GROUND TRAINING WING AT SLAF ACADEMY CHINA BAY CELEBRATES 29TH ANNIVERSARY

The Ground Training Wing at SLAF Academy China Bay proudly celebrated its anniversary upon completion of 29 years of service on 13th January 2022. The Ground Training Wing was initially established as the Combat Training School on 13th January 1993 and later changed its name as at present on 15th July 2013.

The Ground Training Wing has been commanded by 26 Commanding Officers and presently commanded by Group Captain Pradeep Warnasooriya. Ground Training Wing conducted many training courses for Officer Cadets and Airmen including Officer Cadet’s Branch Training Courses, Recruit Courses, Operations Air Advanced Courses, Provost Trade Training Courses, Gunner Courses, specialized English Training Courses.

The customary Working Parade was reviewed by the Chief Instructor, Wing Commander Shamila Dharmawardana. Following the parade, a cricket tournament was conducted to develop the unity among all personnel.

In parallel to the anniversary, Ground Training Wing organized a ‘Shramadana’ campaign at Nalanda Vidyalaya China Bay on 12th January 2022 with the participation of Officers, Instructors and Officer Cadets.
