The Handing Over/ Taking Over Parade of SLAF Base Vavuniya was held today (14 January  2022) where the Outgoing Base Commander, Group Captain WPAH Perera RSP & Bar, MSC (Def & Strat Stu), MA (SSS-USA), Bsc (Def Stu), ctf-ndu, psc handed over the command to Group Captain SAPT Piyaratne RSP, USP, MMS (Mil Com-PRC), BSc (Def Stu) in Mgt (Hons), psc.

The new Base Commander, Group Captain Piyaratne hold the appointment of Commanding Officer, SLAF Station Mirigama before being appointed to command of SLAF Base Vavuniya. The Outgoing Base Commander, Group Captain Perera will be proceeding to SLAF Base Hingurakgoda where he will be assuming command of the Base.
