SLAF STATION BANDARANAIKE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT CELEBRATES 24TH ANNIVERSARY

SLAF Station Bandaranaike International Airport proudly celebrated its 24th anniversary yesterday (26 January 2022) under the guidance of the Commanding Officer, Air Commodore Shehan Wijayanayake.

The anniversary day proceedings commenced with the traditional Working Parade, which was reviewed by the Commanding Officer followed by an addressing to all ranks and civilians. The Commanding Officer stressed the importance and historical value of the Station and its responsibility in protecting the National asset of Bandaranaike International Airport, Katunayake, while appreciating the tireless commitment made by all service personnel including the civilian staff amidst of greater challenges.

Subsequently, sports tournaments and all ranks lunch were arranged at the Station.

In line with the anniversary celebrations, Shramadana campaigns were held at Adiambalama Maha Vidyalaya and David Silva Maha Vidyalaya on 24th January 2022. In addition, a blood donation campaign also held at Station hospital with the assistance of National Blood Bank, Negombo on 25th January 2022.

All the events were held with adherence to health guidelines for the prevention of spreading COVID – 19.

Sri Lanka Air Force stands as the sole gallant aerial force in the nation, skillfully projecting airpower over its airspace and supporting the operations of surface entities.
