CHANGE OF COMMAND AT SLAF BASE KATUNAYAKE
The traditional handing over/taking over parade took place on 14 February 2022 where the outgoing Base Commander, Air Vice Marshal RAUP Rajapaksha RSP and two Bars, USP, MSc (MOA) USA, MSc (Def Stu) in Mgt, MA in IS&S (UK), BSc (Def Stu), MIM (SL), rcds, psc handed over the command to Air Commodore LH Sumanaweera RWP, RSP and Bar, USP, MSc (Strat Stu), MDS, fawc, ndc (Ind), psc. Air Vice Marshal RAUP Rajapaksha will be proceeding to the Air Force Headquarters Colombo where he will be assuming duties as the Director Air Operation.
During the parade, the outgoing Base Commander addressed and conveyed his sincere gratitude for all personnel of the Base for the support extended to him during his tenure as the Base Commander.
The new Base Commander, Air Commodore LH Sumanaweera along with the appointment of Overall Operations Commander Air Defence (OOCAD) of the SLAF assumed the office amidst religious blessings.
