RACING TO THE FINISH LINE “GUWAN HAMUDA PAPEDI SAWARIYA 2022”

“Guwan Hamuda Papedi Sawariya 2022” was held for the 23rd consecutive year, concurring to the 71st Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Air Force. The Men’s race was held on 04th, 05th and 06th March 2022 in 3 stages. Cyclists from all around the country participated in this race covering a total distance of 412km. Avishka Madonza of the Sri Lanka Army won the overall Championship. The team championship was won by Sri Lanka Army Cycling team.

In the Women’s race held today (06 March 2022) from Puttalam  to  Katunayaka which covering the distance of 100km,  Shalika Dilhani of Sri Lanka Army came in 1st , Sri Lanka Navy cyclist Anne Shenali and Madumali Fernando from Sri Lanka Army finished 2nd and 3rd respectively. The team championship was won by the Sri Lanka Army Cycling team.

The presentation ceremony was held at the Eagle’s Lagoon View Banquet Hall, Katunayake and the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana graced the ceremony as the Chief Guest. Members from the Air Force Board of Management, the Chairman, SLAF Cycling, Air Commodore Kithsiri Leelarathne, representatives from all the sponsors who joined the hands with the entire thrilling event and the official media partners were also present at the presentation ceremony.
