SLAF STATION COLOMBO CELEBRATES 62ND ANNIVERSARY

SLAF Station Colombo proudly celebrated its 62nd anniversary today (21 March 2022) under the guidance of the Commanding Officer SLAF Station Colombo, Air Vice Marshal Dilshan Wasage. Station Colombo was established as the Air Force Headquarters unit on 21 March 1960 and gradually evolved as the Sri Lanka Air Force Station Colombo under the patronage of 32 Commanding Officers.

Initially, a Blood donation campaign was organized on 15 March 2022 together with Sri Lanka Air Force Hospital Guwanpura and National Blood Donation Centre Narahenpita. Approximately 180 service and civil personnel donated blood and this event conducted owing to precautionary measures for the prevention of COVID-19.

The anniversary celebrations on today commenced with religious blessings by offering an Alms Giving for Buddhist Monks at the Station Headquarters and followed by the formation day parade which was reviewed by the Commanding Officer. He addressed all ranks emphasizing the History and the role of Station Colombo for the efficacious progression of the Sri Lanka Air Force. Afterwards, a cricket tournament was held at the Rifle Green ground and the day’s proceedings were concluded by an all ranks lunch.

Sri Lanka Air Force stands as the sole gallant aerial force in the nation, skillfully projecting airpower over its airspace and supporting the operations of surface entities.
