CIVIL ENGINEERING WING SLAF BASE KATUNAYAKE CELEBRATES 19TH ANNIVERSARY

The Civil Engineering Wing SLAF Base Katunayake, celebrated its 19th anniversary today (13 June 2022).

At present Civil Engineering Wing consists with 14 Civil Engineering officers and over 1500 airmen trained under various disciplines in the field of Civil Engineering. This formation was established to undertake all major constructions and rehabilitation projects at Sri Lanka Air Force and State sector as directed by the Air Force Headquarters.

Formation day celebrations commenced with the customary working parade reviewed by the Commanding Officer, Wing Commander ND Ekanayake and was followed by the get-together along with a cricket tournament at the Regiment Ground premises SLAF Base Katunayake. Base Commander SLAF Base Katunayake, Air Commodore Lasitha Sumanaweera graced the occasion as the chief guest.  

The event was earmarked by construction of an ablution facility to Leading Aircraftman Pradeep Kumara RT who is disabled and undergoing medical treatments at present as he met with an accident during the tenure he was serving in the formation.  
 
Both the events were organized by service personnel of the Wing under the guidance of the Commanding Officer, Civil Engineering Wing SLAF Base Katunayake.

Sri Lanka Air Force stands as the sole gallant aerial force in the nation, skillfully projecting airpower over its airspace and supporting the operations of surface entities.
