DIRECTORATE OF PERFORMING ARTS AT SLAF BASE KATUNAYAKE CELEBRATES 52ND ANNIVERSARY

The Directorate of performing Arts at SLAF Base Katunayake, celebrates its 52nd anniversary today (01 July 2022).  Initially, SLAF Bugles and Drums Band was established in 1970 inducting  twelve members from other trades to form the band and were proceeded  for training under the Sri Lanka Navy Band on 01st of July 1970.
    
Since, then the SLAF Band has assisted all ceremonial parades, official and non-official events in National, Organizational and Station levels. Throughout its life span, it was elevated to the level of Directorate which is at present consisted with many entertainment elements such as the Oriental Orchestra, Beat Group, Rock Band, Calypso Band, DJs and also the traditional and non-traditional dancing troupe.
    
A tree planting programme was organized to mark this year celebrations by the service personnel of the Directorate under the guidance of the Director Performing Arts, Group Captain HWR Chandima at the Directorate premises.

Sri Lanka Air Force stands as the sole gallant aerial force in the nation, skillfully projecting airpower over its airspace and supporting the operations of surface entities.
