COMMANDER OF THE AIR FORCE DECLARED OPEN THE NEW BUILDING COMPLEX AT KATARAGAMA DEVALA PREMISES

Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana declared open a new utility building for internal administration purposes at Kataragama Devala premises yesterday (31 July 2022). The opening was done amidst religious blessings being done by the Venerable Maha Sanga headed by the Chief Incumbent of Katharagama Kirivehera, Ven Kobawaka Damminda Thero.

The new building utilizes as the Devala Office Complex for the smooth function of its administration. The construction was undertaken by troops of Civil Engineering Wing SLAF Base Katunayake under the guidance of the Commander of the Air Force and the supervision by the Director Civil Engineering, Air Vice Marshal Udula Wijesinghe.

Yesterday’s ceremony was attended by the Basnayake Nilame of Kataragama Devala, Dilshan Gunesekara, Chairperson SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs Charmini Pathirana, Commanding Officer SLAF Station Weerawila, Group Captain Asoka Koralage, Government Officials, officers and other ranks. Finally, Commander of the Air Force extended his sincere thanks and appreciation to the project team for their generous labour assistance to make this meritorious effort a reality which persisted as a long-felt need.

Sri Lanka Air Force stands as the sole gallant aerial force in the nation, skillfully projecting airpower over its airspace and supporting the operations of surface entities.
