RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT WING CELEBRATES 7TH ANNIVERSARY

Research and Development Wing celebrated its 7th anniversary yesterday (05 August 2022). The Research and Development Wing was established in 2015 at SLAF Base Katunayake with the primary vision of enhancing the research and development capabilities of the SLAF to promote innovation and indigenous development as the primary focus. While assisting all SLAF formations in their Research and Development functions, currently the Wing is successfully conducting many special projects such as the Bird Repeller for SLAF Aircraft Hangers, Distilled Water Manufacturing Plant and numerous Renewable Energy Projects to meet the current energy crisis in the country.  

The celebration of the formation day was marked with a tree planting programme at the Wing premise followed by a friendly cricket tournament of all Wing personnel at the SLAF Base Regiment Ground. In line to the anniversary a religious ceremony and an alms giving to the Maha Sanga at the Wimalawamsharamaya Temple, Kurana also held with the participation of Commanding Officer, all officers and other ranks of the Wing on 04 August 2022.

Sri Lanka Air Force stands as the sole gallant aerial force in the nation, skillfully projecting airpower over its airspace and supporting the operations of surface entities.
