CERTIFICATE AWARDING CEREMONY OF NO.1 FIGHTER CONTROLLERS’ INDUCTION COURSE

Marking a significant milestone of the National Air Defence Network, Air Defence Command & Control Centre completed the first ever Fighter Controllers’ Induction Course and the Certificate Awarding Ceremony at SLAF Station Mirigama yesterday (12 August 2022).

The Ceremony was organized by all officers at the Station under the guidance of the Commanding Officer of Air Defence Command & Control Centre SLAF Station Mirigama, Group Captain DSC Fernando. The Overall Operations Commander Air Defence, Air Commodore LH Sumanaweera graced the occasion as the Chief Guest whilst the Deputy Overall Operations Commander Air Defence, Group Captain WWNTP Fernando along with a number of distinguished officers attended to the occasion.

The course was conducted for 07 weeks including theory and practical sessions with the participation of visiting lecturers and field visits to Air Defence elements within SLAF. Two Student Officers learned the art of Fighter Controlling during the course. The two Student Officers were awarded their certificates by the Chief Guest, after the successful completion of Fighter Controllers’ Induction Basic Training.
