BADGE AWARDING CEREMONY OF NO. 49 BASIC AIRBORNE COURSE

The Badge Awarding Ceremony of No. 49 Basic Airborne Course was held at the Drop Zone SLAF Station Ampara yesterday (29 August 2022). The Director Ground Operations, Air Vice Marshal Janaka Amerasinghe graced the occasion as the chief guest.

The Commanding Officer SLAF Station Ampara, Group Captain Priyadarshana, Commanding Officer Parachute Training School Wing Commander MAV Gomis, all officers and other ranks were also present to witness the occasion.

A total of 40 paratroopers including 04 SLAF Officers, 22 Airmen, 03 Airwomen, 02 SL Army Officers, 02 SL Army other rankers, 04 SL Navy Sailors, 01 STF Officer, 02 STF servicemen received their insignias to mark the successful completion of Basic Airborne Training. Leading Seaman KDMGP Dissanayaka was adjudged as the Best Paratrooper of No. 49 Basic Airborne Course. The Director Ground Operations addressed the gathering and congratulated them on the successful completion of the course and extended best wishes for their future. SLAF Sky diving display team led by Wing Commander Vijitha Gomis added glamour to the occasion with a colorful parachute display.
