NO 9 ATTACK HELICOPTER SQUADRON CELEBRATES 27TH ANNIVERSARY
No 9 Attack Helicopter Squadron at SLAF Base Hingurakgoda celebrated its 27th anniversary yesterday (24 November 2022).
The day’s celebration commenced with the customary working parade at the Squadron premises which was reviewed by the Commanding Officer, Group Captain WR de Zoysa, followed by an address to the officers and other ranks and distribution of appreciation letters to the outstanding performances during the year. The Commanding Officer extended his gratitude to all the members of the Squadron for their lavish contribution and untiring effort to spotlight glory and the reputation of the Squadron.
Subsequently, the commemoration parade was held at the Squadron monument to pay profound respect to the Squadron's fallen war heroes by paying floral tributes.
Following the parade, a friendly gathering of all squadron personnel along with several sport activities were organized at the Base playground. The Base Commander SLAF Base Hingurakgoda, Group Captain Senaka Kulathunga participated in the event as the Chief Guest.
Parallel to the anniversary celebrations, the squadron personnel voluntarily participated in a community service project at Kumaragama Sudharmarama temple and the event was successfully completed with the guidance of the Commanding Officer. Besides, squadron members were organized and participated to a “ Bhodhi Pooja” in memory of fallen war heroes at the Kumaragama Sudharmarama temple on 21 November 2022.
