COMMAND AGRO UNIT AT SLAF BASE KATUNAYAKE CELEBRATES 29TH ANNIVERSARY
The Command Agro Unit at SLAF Base Katunayake celebrated its 29th Anniversary today (10 March 2023) by giving prominence to social, religious and recreational activities.
The formation day working parade was reviewed by the Command Agro Officer, Air Commodore Erandika Gunawardena, and was followed by a cricket tournament for service and civilian personnel of the unit. The Command Agro Officer Memorial Trophy was awarded to the winning team. Base Commander SLAF Base Katunayake, Air Vice Marshal Lasitha Sumanaweera, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
In conjunction with the anniversary celebrations, the Command Agro Unit conducted a Community Service Project at K/DB Wijethunga National School, Gelioya, with the donation of organic fertilizer, planting pots and other agro-raw materials for the school, followed by a Jackfruit sapling planting programme by the school Children.
Further, a Pirith Chanting Ceremony was also held at the Command Agro Unit on 07 March 2023, to invoke blessings for all personnel of the Command Agro Unit and their families, as well as for fallen air warriors.
