AERONAUTICAL RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT WING PROUDLY CELEBRATED 2ND ANNIVERSARY

The Aeronautical Research and Development Wing at SLAF Station Katukurunda proudly celebrated its 2nd anniversary yesterday (30 April 2023). Being the pioneers of aeronautical research in the Sri Lanka Air Force, the AR&D Wing has rendered its service to the SLAF through aeronautical and avionics related Research & Development projects. As an institute to foster collaboration and knowledge sharing between researchers from different backgrounds and disciplines provides innovative solutions to some of demanding issues faced by the organization.

The customary Working Parade was conducted to commemorate the anniversary day with the participation of officers and airmen/airwomen of the Wing and was reviewed by the present Commanding Officer, Group Captain Asitha Hettiarachchi. A project on community service responsibility was also conducted at Amarasekara Primary School, Ethagama.

With the partaking of the Commanding Officer, Officers and airmen, a religious program was conducted at the Wing premises to mark the anniversary day. Moreover, a cricket tournament to boost the morale and comradeship of the members was also conducted with the participation of incumbent Command Research and Development Officer Group Captain Chandimal Hettiarachchi who overlooks the projects undertaken by the AR&D Wing.

Sri Lanka Air Force stands as the sole gallant aerial force in the nation, skillfully projecting airpower over its airspace and supporting the operations of surface entities.
