INTER UNIT CARROM CHAMPIONSHIP – 2023

The Inter-Unit Carrom Championship 2023 was held at the SLAF Health Management Centre yesterday (09 May 2023). The awarding ceremony took place at the same venue, with the graceful presence of Deputy Director Information Technology of SLAF, Air Commodore Predeep Fernando, as the Chief Guest.

The tournament was divided into two segments and 10 women's teams and 13 men’s teams competed at the championship. The Technical Formation team of SLAF Base Katunayake was named Men’s Champions for the year 2023, while SLAF Station Colombo emerged as Runners Up. In the women's category, SLAF Station Bandaranayake International Airport won the Championship and SLAF Trade Training School Ekala turned into Runners Up.

Leading Aircraftman Kularathne RMH, representing SLAF Base Katunayake Technical Formation and Leading Aircraftwoman Jayakodi PMDS, representing SLAF Station Bandaranayake International Airport, were awarded as the Best Players in the Women's and Men's categories at the tournament, respectively.

The event was attended by Director Provost, Acting Commanding Officer SLAF Station Colombo and Acting Director Sports of SLAF Air Commodore Chaminda Wickramarathne, Chairman SLAF Carrom, Group Captain Nalaka Nugegoda, members of the Air Force Sports Council and members of the Sri Lanka Carrom Federation.

Sri Lanka Air Force, is the only aerial arm among the Sri Lanka Armed Forces, responsible for defending the nation's airspace and supporting its sister services for all kind of operations.
