The Directorate of Media successfully organized a blood donation programme on 22 May 2023 at Apeksha Hospital – Maharagama, demonstrating the spirit of solidarity and compassion of the service and civil personnel at the Directorate. This remarkable initiative aimed to contribute towards saving the lives of those in need, reflecting the directorate's commitment to serving the community.

The blood donation programme coincided with the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the Directorate, which is being celebrated today (26 May 2023). This significant event has been made possible with the approval of the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana and under the guidance of the Director of Media, Group Captain Dushan Wijesinghe.

Originally established as the Command Media Unit on 26 May 2008, the Directorate of Media has grown and evolved over the years to meet the expanding needs and responsibilities. With unwavering dedication, it has transformed into a comprehensive body, providing to various aspects of media and communication within and outside the organization.
