CERTIFICATE AWARDING CEREMONY OF FIRE FIGHTER REHABILITATION COURSE AT FIRE SCHOOL AND FIRE TENDER MAINTENANCE SQUADRON

The Certificate Award Ceremony of the Fire Fighter Rehabilitation Course for the SLAF retired personnel was held yesterday (02 June 2023) at the Fire School and Fire Tender Maintenance Squadron (FS&FTMS), SLAF Base Katunayake. The Base Commander of SLAF Base Ratmalana, Air Commodore WPAH Perera, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and the certificate awarding ceremony was followed by the firefighting demonstration conducted by the course participants.

The course was conducted through a well-formed syllabus over a scheduled period of two and a half months at SLAF Base Katunayake under the facilitation of Base Commander SLAF Base Katunayake, Air Vice Marshal LH Sumanaweera. The training programme focused on domestic firefighting, fire service engineering science, fire service operations, breathing apparatus, fire detection and protection systems, fire service pumps, fire prevention and rope rescue knots. A total of 13 trainees received the certificates on this occasion.

The ceremony was attended by the Commanding Officer of the Fire School and Fire Tender Maintenance Squadron, Wing Commander CP Hettiarachchi, all officers and other ranks of the squadron.

Sri Lanka Air Force, is the only aerial arm among the Sri Lanka Armed Forces, responsible for defending the nation's airspace and supporting its sister services for all kind of operations.
