CIVIL ENGINEERING WING AT SLAF BASE KATUNAYAKE CELEBRATES 20TH ANNIVERSARY

The Civil Engineering Wing at SLAF Base Katunayake, celebrated its 20th anniversary yesterday (13 June 2023). This formation was established to undertake all major construction and rehabilitation projects at the Sri Lanka Air Force and the State Sector as directed by the Air Force Headquarters. At present, the Civil Engineering Wing consists of more than 1400 Civil Engineering Officers and Airmen in various disciplines in the field of Civil Engineering.

The 20th Formation Day celebrations commenced with the customary working parade reviewed by the Commanding Officer, Wing Commander ND Ekanayake and sports activities were also organized with the participation of all members at the Wing. The acting Base Commander of SLAF Base Katunayake, Air Commodore SR Udakubura, graced the occasion as the chief guest.

In parallel to the celebration, a cleaning campaign was launched, followed by a lunch for 65 senior citizens at Dunagaha Elders Home on 09 June 2023.

Sri Lanka Air Force, is the only aerial arm among the Sri Lanka Armed Forces, responsible for defending the nation's airspace and supporting its sister services for all kind of operations.
