AIR FIELD CONSTRUCTION WING (AFCW) AT SLAF BASE RATMALANA CELEBRATES 14TH ANNIVERSARY

The Air Field Construction Wing is established for the purpose of centrally coordinating and maintaining all operational platforms (runways) to facilitate the decentralized operation of multifaceted SLAF Aircraft and the operational surfaces for optimal operational efficiency at all times, as planned by Air Force Headquarters. Presently, this Wing consists of 12 Civil Engineering Branch Officers and more than 300 Airmen who trained in various disciplines in the civil engineering field.


The Air Field Construction Wing celebrated its 14th anniversary today (20 June 2023) which was commenced with the customary working parade reviewed by the Commanding Officer of the Air Field Construction Wing, Wing Commander LPD Anurasiri. Moreover, the sports activities were also organized with the participation of all members of this Wing. The Base Commander of SLAF Base Ratmalana, Air Commodore WPAH Perera, graced the occasion as the chief gust.

In parallel to the celebration, the Shramadhana Campaign was conducted to restore living facilities at Wellawatta Sri Jinananda Lama Niwasaya, which provide shelter to orphan children and the restoration of the dilapidated roof at Chakindaramaya Temple Ratmalana with the participation of Air Field Construction Wing tradesmen.
