AIR DEFENCE COMMAND AND CONTROL CENTER CELEBRATES 17TH ANNIVERSARY

Air Defence Command and Control Center (ADC&CC) at SLAF Station Mirigama celebrates its 17th anniversary yesterday (01 July 2023).  The ADC&CC was established in 2006 with the prime aim of serving the nation by being the premier center of the National Air Defence Network. During the last 17 years, ADC&CC developed its capabilities to meet the requirements of a dynamic operational environment. Since its inception, Air Defence Command and Control Center immensely contributed to the sustenance of National Security.

The celebration commenced with the formation day parade, which was reviewed by Group Captain DSC Fernando the Commanding Officer of the Air Defence Command & Control Center. The day proceedings were concluded with a cricket tournament which was organized at the station sports ground with the participation of the Station Commanding Officer and the deputy overall Officer Commander Air Defence as the chief guest.

Parallel to the formation day, a renovation programme was conducted at the 'Shasanawardhana Mahabodhi Children’s Home' at Mirigama with a donation of essential stationary and sports items. Moreover, the solemn programme included a social evening, a movie night and a dinner for the children at the particular Home on 28 June 2023. Further religious activities were conducted at the station temple including an almsgiving which was organized by the Air Defence Command and Control Center followed by a Bodhi Pooja on 29 June 2023.

Sri Lanka Air Force, is the only aerial arm among the Sri Lanka Armed Forces, responsible for defending the nation's airspace and supporting its sister services for all kind of operations.
