SLAF Base Katunayake celebrated its 72nd Anniversary yesterday (01 September 2023). The formation day celebration commenced with the customary working parade and an address by the Base Commander, Air Commodore SDGM Silva to all officers, airmen and civil staff of the Base.
 
In line with the anniversary celebrations, a Blood Donation programme was conducted on 11 August 2023 and approximately 125 personnel contributed, representing every section /formation of the Base.

Further, Shramadana Campaigns were conducted on 21 August 2023 at Mahoshada Children’s Home, Katuvapitiya Church, Kurana Railway Station, Mahamewna Asapuwa Kimbulapitiya, Katana Wijayarama Temple and Bolawalana Abayasekaramaya Temple focusing for a healthy environment.

Besides that, cricket and netball matches were organized to build harmony among the servicemen and women, with the participation of all officers and other ranks of the Base. The final matches of the two sports events were held yesterday as evening matches, followed by Tombola night.
