SLAF CONDUCTS AIRCRASH EMERGENCY RESPONSE DRILL

SLAF Station Colombo executed an Air Crash Emergency Response Drill this morning (10 October 2023) at Frazer Grounds, Wellawatta. This exercise was designed to simulate a hypothetical scenario wherein an MI – 17 Helicopter, carrying eight personnel crashed in the vicinity of Wellawatta.

The objective of this drill was to evaluate and demonstrate the operational readiness and professional capabilities of various specialized teams, including Firefighters, Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART), Medical, Provost and Intelligence personnel. These teams participated in the exercise, envisioning their swift and effective response in the event of an actual emergency.

This significant training endeavour was conducted under the supervision of Air Commodore PSN Fernando, the Commanding Officer of SLAF Station Colombo and the coordination of Commanding Officer No. 28 Regiment Wing, Group Captain Mangala Seneviratne.
