The No. 06 Air Defence Radar Squadron (ADRS) at SLAF Academy China Bay celebrated its 14th Anniversary today  (15 October 2023). The No. 06 ADRS was formed as an integral component of the National Air Defence System, which was commissioned on 15 October 2009 at SLAF Station Weerawila and subsequently relocated to SLAF Academy China Bay on 05 May 2012 to meet the operational requirements of the National Air Defence System.

Marking the occasion, a customary working parade was held at the squadron premises, reviewed by the Commanding Officer, Wing Commander BGDP Jayarathne.

In line with the anniversary celebration, Shramadana Campaigns were conducted at T/Vellaimanal Al Azhar Muslim Maha Vidyalaya, Dimuthugama Samudrasanna Wivekaramaya temple and Holy Spirit Church- Vellaimanal. Lunch packets and gift packs were also distributed to the children at ‘Rewatha' Children’s Home China Bay.

The anniversary celebration concluded with a friendly cricket tournament among all personnel of the squadron at the Academy sports ground.
