A GUWAN MITHUDAM PROJECT CONCLUDES AT PUTTALAM
The 'Guwan Mithudam' Community Service project concluded successfully on 27 December 2023, at Puttlam Amakuliya Primary School by SLAF Station Palavi. This initiative, guided by Mrs. Enoka Rajapaksa, the Chairperson of SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit, aimed to re-establish the water purification facility, renovate sanitary facilities, relocate the school library and principal's office to create a conducive environment and enhance the students' educational experience. Approximately 50 students attend this school, facing challenges with an unserviceable water purification plant and a subpar school library due to prolonged usage.
The project was supervised under the guidance of Commanding Officer SLAF Station Palavi, Group Captain PS Alexander and the President Seva Vanitha Unit of SLAF Station Palavi, Mrs. JMPK Jayasundara. The project was coordinated by Squadron Leader BMIM Jayathilake, the Officer in charge of Station Seva Vanitha Unit. Financial assistance was jointly provided by the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit and SLAF Station Palavi.
The ceremony was attended by officers, other rankers and representatives from the school, including the Principal, teachers, parents and students.
