FIELD VISIT BY INSTITUTION OF ENGINEERS SRI LANKA (IESL) TO SLAF BASE KATUNAYAKE

A 19-member delegation from the Electrical, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering Sectional Committee (EETESC) of the Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka (IESL) which is the prime institution and the apex body of engineering professionals in Sri Lanka, visited the Engineering Formations at Sri Lanka Air Force Base Katunayake yesterday (21 May 2024).

The delegation was led by Eng. Dushyantha Wanniarachchi, the Chairman - Electrical, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering Sectional Committee (EETESC) of IESL, along with Engineers from different specializations representing several government and private institutions. This field visit was organized at the request of the IESL to the Commander of the Air Force, in coordination with the Directorate of Electronics and Computer Engineering of the SLAF, as part of the IESL's annual field visit schedule.

The delegation visited Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering Wing, Aircraft Overhaul Wing, Aeronautical Engineering Wing and Radar Maintenance Wing during the field visit. Informative presentations were conducted in every location and the visiting delegation interacted with the officers and other ranks during knowledge-sharing sessions.

This visit provided an opportunity for the Members of IESL to gain valuable insights into the critical role of the Air Force in safeguarding Sri Lanka’s airspace, foster knowledge exchange and potentially spark collaborations in relevant engineering fields.
