The Certificate Awarding Ceremony for the tri-forces trainees of No. 35 Disaster Management and First Response Course was held at Sri Lanka Air Force Station Mullaitivu today (05 June 2024). The Director Internal and Public Welfare, Air Commodore Sulochana Marapperuma graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

The Commanding Officer Disaster Management Training School, Wing Commander Upul Dharmasiri, all officers and other ranks of the Station also attended the awarding ceremony.

The Fifty Working Days training programme focused on the introduction of Disasters & Hazard  Profiles, Disaster Management Council Act and role of the Disaster Management Centre, Overview of Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), Hazard and Vulnerability Assessment, Information technology related to the Disaster Management  & Geographic information system (GIS) International Search and Rescue Adversary Group (INSARG) Theory and Practical Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosive (CBRNE), Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response (HADR) & International  frame work of disaster management, Disasters Preparedness plans, Conducting of awareness programme Civil Law pertaining to Emergency Response, Emergency Operation Centre (EOC), Contingency Plan (CP) and Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs), First Aid, Casualties and Death Management, Fire & Rescue.

A total of 20 trainees, including one SLAF officer and twelve airmen, one SL Army officer and two other ranks, two SL Navy officers and two sailors, received their certificates at the occasion.
