AIR DEFENCE COMMAND AND CONTROL CENTRE CELEBRATES 18TH ANNIVERSARY

The Air Defence Command and Control Centre (ADC&CC) at SLAF Station Mirigama celebrated its 18th anniversary yesterday (01 July 2024). The ADC&CC was established in 2006 with the primary aim of serving the nation as the premier centre of the National Air Defence Network. Over the last 18 years, ADC&CC has developed its capabilities to meet the requirements of a dynamic operational environment. Since its inception, the Air Defence Command and Control Centre has immensely contributed to the sustenance of national security.

The celebration commenced with the formation day parade, which was reviewed by the Commanding Officer Air Defence Command & Control Centre, Group Captain DSC Fernando. The day's proceedings were concluded with a cricket encounter, which was organized at the station sports ground with the participation of all squadron personnel.

In parallel to the formation day, a Bodhi Pooja and a Bana programme were conducted at the station temple on Poson Poya day. Further, a cleaning campaign was conducted at the ‘Railway Station Mirigama’ on 24 June 2024. Moreover, a renovation programme was conducted at the 'Shasanawardhana Mahabodhi Children's Home' at Mirigama, followed by a solemn programme including a movie night, dinner and the donation of sports items for the children at the particular home on 27 June 2024.
 

Sri Lanka Air Force, is the only aerial arm among the Sri Lanka Armed Forces, responsible for defending the nation's airspace and supporting its sister services for all kind of operations.
