
AIR FORCE COMMANDER’S CUP RUGBY TROPHY UNVEILED AHEAD OF SRI LANKA SPORTS FIESTA 2024

The Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs, in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism, will host the Sri Lanka Sports Fiesta 2024 from 16 to 18 August 2024 at the Race Course Ground in Colombo. This prestigious event will feature over 3,000 athletes competing in seven dynamic team sports, namely, cricket, rugby, football, volleyball, netball, hockey and basketball.
The Air Force Commander’s Cup Rugby Tournament, a premier event of the Sports Fiesta 2024, is scheduled to commence 16 August 2024 at the Race Course Ground in Colombo. This year, the tournament will showcase top ‘A’ Division men’s clubs, including CR & FC, Havelocks SC, CH & FC, Army SC, Navy SC, Air Force SC, and Police SC, as well as ‘A’ Division women’s clubs such as Army SC, Navy SC, Air Force SC and CR & FC.
The Air Force Commander’s Cup Rugby Trophy was unveiled today (15 August 2024) at the Air Force Headquarters, in a ceremony graced by the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa. All participating ‘A’ Division rugby teams were present for this momentous occasion. The Commander extended his best wishes to all teams, encouraging them to strive for success. The event was attended by Deputy Chief of Staff, Director Sports, Chairman SLAF Rugby, Deputy Chairman SLAF Rugby, Secretary Air Force Sports Council, Secretary SLAF Rugby and other members of the Air Force Sports Council.
