NO. 49 CBRNE WING CONDUCTS TOT PROGRAMME ON CBRN DISASTER RISK REDUCTION

The No. 49 Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Explosive (CBRNE) Wing of SLAF successfully conducted a Training of Trainers (TOT) programme on Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Disaster Risk Reduction at SLAF Base Katunayake. This comprehensive training initiative aimed at enhancing the capabilities of Disaster Management personnel to effectively respond to and mitigate the risks associated with CBRN incidents.
The programme was conducted in three intensive sessions, the first session took place from 23 to 25 October 2024, followed by the second session from 28 to 30 October 2024 and the third session was held from 6 to 8 November 2024.
A total of over 75 District Coordinators from the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) participated in the training, which included hands-on exercises and practical simulations. The sessions were led by highly skilled first responders from the No. 49 CBRNE Wing, in close collaboration with key stakeholders from various sectors.
The TOT programme provided participants with specialized skills necessary for the effective management of CBRN-related disasters, focusing on preparedness, response and recovery strategies. The training included the use of advanced CBRN response techniques and equipment, as well as the development of strategies for risk reduction and mitigation in CBRN emergencies.
