SLAF BASE ANURADHAPURA CELEBRATES 42ND ANNIVERSARY

The SLAF Base Anuradhapura celebrated its 42nd anniversary yesterday (09 November 2024) with a series of formal and community-oriented events that underscored its commitment to service and regional welfare. The celebration began with the customary working parade, reviewed by the Base Commander, Group Captain Poojana Gunathilake. In commemoration of this significant milestone, various initiatives were undertaken to enhance local institutions and community well-being. Among these, the Base coordinated the renovation of the Ehetuwewa Sri Sambuddha Wiharaya, Kadireshan Kovil and Bonamuwa School. In a further contribution to community health services, five ventilators were donated to the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital, supporting its capacity to provide critical care.
Additionally, a blood donation drive was organized at the Base hospital on 24 October 2024, raising the support within the local community. On the anniversary day, a tree-planting programme was held, emphasizing the dedication to environmental sustainability. The celebrations concluded with a series of sports activities and an all-ranks lunch, attended by service members and civilian personnel of the Base.
