SLAF DIRECTORATE OF IT TO LEAD TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENT OF NATIONAL EDUCATION MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
The Directorate of Information Technology of the SLAF plays a leading role in the development of a new National Education Management System, recently announced by the Ministry of Education. This initiative forms a key part of the government's broader efforts to digitise and improve the management of the education sector.
The project was formally discussed during a meeting held at the Ministry of Education yesterday (02 June 2025). The meeting brought together key stakeholders, including Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe, representatives from the Department of Examinations, the Department of Registrar of Persons and technical experts of SLAF Directorate of IT.
The SLAF Directorate of IT provides essential technical expertise in designing and deploying the system, which aims to strengthen data management across Sri Lanka’s education framework. The platform will support functions such as student enrollment, teacher recruitment, infrastructure planning and overall administrative efficiency.
The Prime Minister, Minister of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Training, Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, highlighted the importance of accurate and timely information in addressing challenges within the education sector. She stated that the system will empower decision-makers with the tools needed to plan and manage resources more effectively.
