
ANNUAL COMMANDER'S INSPECTION AT SLAF BASE VAVUNIYA

The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe, conducted the Annual Commander’s Inspection at SLAF Base Vavuniya today (06 June 2025).
The Commander reviewed the parade which featured the Air Force Standards and the parade was commanded by the Base Commander SLAF Base Vavuniya, Air Commodore Asela Kuruwita. Moreover, the Certificates of Commendation were awarded by the Commander of the Air Force to the following service personnel in recognition of their invaluable contributions to SLAF Base Vavuniya.

During the course of inspection, the Commander visited the Base Headquarters, Main Guard Room, No. 61 Intelligence Wing, Swimming Pool Complex & Gymnasium, No. 02 ADR Squadron, No. 02 MTR&OW, Welfare Complex, Equipment Section, Fire Section, No. 111 UAV Squadron, Intelligence Training School, WOs’ & SNCOs’ Mess, No. 23 Regiment Wing, MTRS & MT Section, Armory Section, Main Operation Room, ATC Tower, E&TE Section, Dental Section, Base Hospital, Airmen’s & Airwomen’s Social Club, JNCOs’ Club, Airmen and Airwomen Accommodation Area followed by an All Ranks Lunch at the Airmen’s & Airwomen’s Mess. Then Commander visited Mamadu Detachment for inspection.
In conclusion, the Commander addressed all the service personnel at the Base. He highlighted the upcoming expansion of the aircraft fleet in the near future. Furthermore, he explained the anticipated rightsizing in personnel strength and emphasized the paramount importance of performing multiple duties with excellence, adhering to established standards and always giving one’s best effort. The Commander concluded the gathering by thanking all officers, airmen, airwomen and civilian employees. He encouraged everyone at the Base, both service members and civilian staff to uphold the highest standards in all aspects of their duties.
