
JAPAN-LANKA FRIENDSHIP ASSOCIATION DONATES AMBULANCE, SCHOLARSHIPS AND ESSENTIAL SUPPLIES TO SLAF IN STRENGTHENING BILATERAL TIES

The Japan Lanka Friendship Association, with the generous support of the Mrs. Sawano Sayuri and the other members of the delegation, handed over documents of an ambulance to the SLAF, eight scholarships for deserved schoolchildren, a confirmation letter for the donation of Rs . 3 Mn to renovate school building at Sigiriya, reading glasses, Educational accessories and two water tanks capacity of 1000 Ltr to the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit today (13 June 2025) in a ceremonial procession at Air Force Headquarters. The delegation officially handed over the documents of Ambulance vehicles to the Chief of Staff of the Air Force, Air Vice Marshal Lasitha Sumanaweera, during the colourful ceremony.
A special cultural programme was held at the Air Force Headquarters, with the objective of making the day memorable for the Japanese delegation. The friendship between the Japan-Lanka Friendship Association and the Sri Lanka Air Force dates back to 2015 and has been strengthened by the generous donations of Fire Vehicles, Ambulances, Turntable Ladder Vehicles and a Fire Car.
The event was attended by Sawano Sayuri President Iruka Group Company Limited, Sawano Satoru Vice President Iruka Group Company Limited, the Vice President of the Japan Lanka Friendship Association, Dr. Eranga Hasanthi, Chairperson SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Krishanthi Edirisinghe, Chief of Staff, Deputy Chief of Staff, Director General Air Operations, Acting Director General Health Service, Commanding Officer SLAF Station Sri Jayewardenepura Kotte, a cross-section of officers, airmen and airwomen.
