CIVIL ENGINEERING WING SLAF BASE KATUNAYAKE CELEBRATES 22ND ANNIVERSARY

The Civil Engineering Wing of SLAF Base Katunayake proudly celebrated its 22nd anniversary yesterday (13 June 2025). This formation was established to undertake major construction and renovation projects for the Sri Lanka Air Force and the state sector, as directed by Air Force Headquarters. The customary working parade was held and reviewed by the Commanding Officer, Group Captain ND Ekanayake.

In line with the anniversary celebrations, a Pahan Puja, overnight Pirith chanting ceremony and almsgiving were held at the Civil Engineering Wing. These religious observances were conducted with the participation of the Acting Director General Construction Engineering, Air Vice Marshal Vajira Senadheera, the Base Commander of SLAF Base Katunayake, Air Commodore Asela Jayasekera, and the Commanding Officer, Group Captain ND Ekanayake. The ceremonies were held to invoke blessings upon the departed service personnel of the Wing and to seek blessings for all serving members and their families.

Sri Lanka Air Force stands as the sole gallant aerial force in the nation, skillfully projecting airpower over its airspace and supporting the operations of surface entities.
