JAPAN-SRI LANKA FRIENDSHIP ASSOCIATION EXTENDS SUPPORT TO SIGIRIYA COMMUNITY IN COLLABORATION WITH SLAF STATION SIGIRIYA

The Japan-Sri Lanka Friendship Association visited Sigiriya yesterday (16 June 2025) as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and support local communities. The visit was conducted with the approval of the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisingha and under the supervision of the Commanding Officer of SLAF Station Sigiriya, Group Captain SV Premawardana.

This special visit was coordinated by Dr. Eranga Hasanthi in collaboration with SLAF Station Sigiriya.

As part of the visit, the delegation inspected the current condition of the school building previously donated to Thalkote Primary School in Sigiriya. They then proceeded to Walamitiyawa Primary School in Galewela, where educational scholarships were awarded to deserving students. The team also conducted a site visit for a new school building planned for construction later this year, marking the next phase of this collaborative effort.

Sri Lanka Air Force stands as the sole gallant aerial force in the nation, skillfully projecting airpower over its airspace and supporting the operations of surface entities.
