COMMANDER'S INSPECTION OF SLAF ACADEMY CHINA BAY

The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe, conducted the Commander's Inspection of Sri Lanka Air Force Academy in China Bay today (27 June 2025). Prior to the inspection proper, the Commander reviewed the Commander's Inspection Parade commanded by the Commandant of SLAF Academy China Bay, Air Commodore Amal Perera.
Certificates of Commendation were awarded by the Commander of the Air Force to the following service personnel and the civilian in recognition of their outstanding and meritorious services towards the activities of the Academy and the entire Air Force.

Corporal Sanjaya AGA – (Operations Ground II)
Corporal Jayathilaka BMUP – (Operations Ground I)
Corporal Nandana TYINS – (Aeronautical Electrical & Instrument Fitter SPI)
Corporal Jayawickrama KMDM – (Aeronautical Engine Fitter SP I)
Leading Aircraftman Savinda KS – (Air Frame III)
Civil Mr. VGK Banda – (Spraying Operator)
During the course of the inspection, the Commander visited the areas of Academy including Academy Headquarters, Academic Wing, lodger formations of the academy, JNCOs’ Social club, Welfare Complex, accommodation areas of airmen and airwomen, WOs’ and SNCOs’ Mess, Officer Cadets’ Mess and Officers’ Mess. In addition, the ‘Malay Cove Tide Watch' WOs and SNCOs’ Cabana, along with the newly constructed Reverse Osmosis (RO) Plant at the Welfare Complex, were ceremonially declared open, further enhancing the welfare facilities at the Academy.
Addressing all personnel of the Academy at the conclusion of the inspection, the Commander expressed his appreciation for their hard work in maintaining the Academy, up to the required standards. During his address, the Commander reminded that this academy has played a pivotal role in producing professional military personnel and quality aviation professionals to serve the Sri Lanka Air Force.
